Great New Christmas Movie – The Star
YOU MUST TAKE YOUR WHOLE FAMILY TO SEE THE MOVIE “THE STAR” STARTING NOVEMBER 17 IN A THEATER NEAR YOU!!!! It’s adorable, family friendly, and biblically ACCURATE for once!
There was only one little place that was not 100%, and it was where Joseph got peace in his heart that it was okay to stay with Mary. He did not have to divorce her. In the Bible he has a dream in which an angel comes to reassure him. In the movie, he kneels by his window to pray, there’s a subtle glowing light at which time you can see peace settle on him. No dream. No angel. But I can live with that! It did not leave me disappointed.
Remember—this is a make-believe, fairy tale-type version of the Christmas story –with lots of artists’ license embellishments telling the story of Jesus’ birth from the animals’ point of view. So, don’t go thinking it’s a straight up Bible story version. But, I’m telling you it is fun, funny, cute, adventurous, breathtaking at times, dramatic in places, and has lots of slapstick comedy that sent roars of laughter through the theater from all the kids there. Never once did I get bored or did it lose my attention. Never once was I disappointed in the content from a Christian point of view.
And the message throughout is LOUD AND CLEAR! Jesus is the long-awaited Messiah, the King of Kings, and the Son of God! Not some generic baby or god among other religions.
There are fascinating little places in it that gives such redemptive highlights. I don’t want to give the movie away, but I will give you one example – there is a man-monster type guy working for King Herod and his two vicious dogs who chase down the little donkey through the whole movie. Their owner is mean to them, ties them up with chains etc. At one point in the movie, their chains are broken off, and they recognize that they have been set free! REDEMPTION. Free from the chains that held them bound!
There are several other places in the movie, that if you pay attention, have similar real spiritual implications.
I recommend that before you go see the movie, read the biblical account one more time with your kids so the biblical accuracy is in their heads. TEACH YOUR KIDS TO BE DISCERNING WITH THE MOVIES THEY WATCH. Then go home and talk about it. Get popcorn and something to drink! Make it fun night. Take the whole family and all the neighborhood kids!
I know when the DVD comes out in a few months, this is one you are going to want to get and add to your family collection. It will be one of those “Miracle on 34th Street” type movies you will want to watch every Christmas.
