As we watched the rioting in the streets because of the election of Donald Trump, this is where I believe we are at in America right now. We, as Christians, just won one of the biggest spiritual battles in memorable history. We know this is a spiritual battle, not a battle with flesh and blood. And we dare not take it lightly. As I was reading my Bible this morning, I happened to start in Nehemiah, where he was given permission by King Artaxerxes gave him permission to go back to Jerusalem to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem which had been torn down and the gates had been burned.
We’ve been living in that land now for many years. Nehemiah wept when he heard it and cried out to God for mercy. So have we. But he put feet to his prayers. Because of great favor with his king (remember, he was a slave in the king’s court–a Jew in captivity) he went back to Jerusalem, not only with the blessing of the King, but with the finances and the resources of the King to restore Jerusalem. Then what happened?
A Prophetic Picture of Where We Are At
Nehemiah 2:10 “When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard about this, they were very much disturbed that someone had come to promote the welfare of the Israelites.”
vs 19 – “But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official and Geshem the Arab heard about it, they mocked and ridiculed us. “What is this you are doing?” they asked. “Are you rebelling against the king?”
vs 20 – I answered them by saying, “The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding….”
Nehemiah and the Jews stayed focused and went to work.
4:1-3 – When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews, 2 and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said, “What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble-burned as they are?” 3 Tobiah the Ammonite, who was at his side, said, “What they are building-even a fox climbing up on it would break down their wall of stones!
vs 8 – They all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble against it
Sound familiar?
What was Nehemiah’s reaction” vs 9 – But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat.
We know the story. Things got so bad with the attacks and mocking of Sanballat and his violent cohorts, that Nehemiah and the Jews had to rebuild the wall with materials and tools in one hand and a sword in the other.
vs 16 From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah 17 who were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, 18 and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. But the man who sounded the trumpet stayed with me.
People Are Never Our Enemy
Remember: PEOPLE ARE NEVER OUR ENEMY! It’s the anti-Christ spirits, who have always existed, and appear in new forms and new ways in each generation.
Christians, we prayed this man into office –with all his blemishes and humiliating, embarrassing, ungodly character flaws. It will only be our prayers, and the sword of the Lord (the uncompromising Word of God) that will make him successful.
Within the last 24 hours there have already been calls on social media to assassinate Donald Trump, according to news sources. We must cover him, his wife, and children in prayer, cover them with the blood of Jesus. There are many politicians (like outspoken Harry Reid) who do not want him to be successful.
Stay on Your Knees in Prayer
It’s not time to sit back and relax! We must stay at our posts rebuilding the walls with one hand, and holding the incense of prayer and the word of God in the other — not to come against PEOPLE, but to come against the spirit of anti-christ that has been free to roam our streets, educational systems, news media, and entertainment sources for far too long!!!!
More than ever before Christian parents and children’s ministers need to double down and deliberating develop a biblical worldview in the next generation. We have to begin now, while they are little, to form their belief system. Research shows kids develop their beliefs about God and religion by the time they are ten years old! And what they basically believe by age 12 to 13 they will believe the rest of their lives!
I heard a talk show where “experts” were saying the time to start talking to your kids about politics is by age eight!!!
