Lesson Summary
This lesson teaches children the meaning and importance of water baptism from a biblical perspective. Using clear, engaging explanations and relatable illustrations—like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly—it explains how baptism is a symbol of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, and how it represents our choice to turn from sin and follow Jesus with a new life. Children will learn that baptism doesn’t save us or earn God’s love, but is an act of obedience that shows the world we belong to Him.
The lesson also answers common questions, like whether kids can be baptized, and contrasts baby dedication with believer’s baptism. Through real-life examples, including the courageous story of Amina, children are inspired to boldly follow Jesus. The lesson ends with a call to receive Jesus and encourages kids who are already saved to take the next step and be baptized in water.
Our PowerVerse:Â For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized, and with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God who raised Christ from the dead. Colossians 2:12
